The Revelation 21:4
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away”
The Revelation 22:3
“And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve him”
Reading through these scriptures it is very clear that there are going to be certain absentees in Heaven, but they are going to be absentees that we will be delighted to see the end of! In preparing our eternal home, our ascended Lord removes all the former things that we currently have to bear whilst here in our earthly life below. These are promises that this present world is passing and our next one is nothing like it! So, dear reader, whilst these things are very negative things that we will all happily wave goodbye to, I would like to briefly add the positives to each one, which will be the outcome of these things being no more.
Our first thankful absentee from our new home is tears, because God is going to wipe every tear away forever. I like the story of the little girl who when she had read this exclaimed “Wow! God’s handkerchief must be absolutely huge!” We all know there are many different things in our lives that can understandably bring us tears, but the reality is that in The Father’s House we will have no reason or cause of anything whatsoever to make us feel weepy. Our last heartbreak will have been experienced, it will all be behind us, not even in a distant memory. It’s a beautiful thought that our tear ducts will never shed a single drop again! Wonderful
Our second thankful absentee is death itself. The king of terrors shall never penetrate Heaven’s gate! And one reason is because there will be no more sin to cause even a single death. In that future world of glory not one shall ever die, not one grave shall ever be dug, neither any funeral processions. No hearse going down the streets of glory! No more obituaries to read. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” That last great enemy utterly defeated through our Lord and Saviour! Hallelujah! Yes, how utterly different to our present scene here, where not a single one is spared the consequences of Adam’s sin.
Our third thankful absentee is sorrow, or mourning. How innumerable are the times of mourning in this present world. Since the fall of man, never has one day passed that there hasn’t been sorrow and mourning over a multitude of troubles. All through the ages everyone knows the feelings of sorrow which can often be caused through worries and fears. No one rises in the morning with any great certainty that the day may end in disappointment or grief. Similarly, no one lies down at night with any great assurance that it may not turn into a night of such loneliness or distress. Sadly, mourning is that horrible thing which can so take possession that it’s difficult to hide. How different this world would be if it were announced henceforth, sorrow had been cured and was no more. Well, we have the absolute assurance that for all eternity we will never experience any feelings of sorrow ever again! Amen!
Our fourth thankful absentee is crying. A different context to crying tears. This crying is the cry of despair and dismay. An outcry of wailing and grief. But none of the causes of these wailings will ever surface again in our Heavenly abode. Never again shall any distraught outpouring come from our lips. On the contrary, our voices shall continually and without end be occupied in praise and worship to our Lord Jesus Christ, who is worthy of our endless adoration. Our vocal chords shall swell and utter nothing but sweet and joyful strains! Oh, hasten Thy return Lord!
The fifth thankful absentee that will not be missed is pain. We’ve all experienced the many different and strong physical pains that sometimes accompanies an illness, or the horrible real pain of a grieving or broken heart. Our bodies here may groan in most numerous ways, but in that blessed home there will never be any operations, no wheelchairs, no walking sticks, no zimmer frames or crutches! Neither will there be such a thing as a medicine cupboard, full of the things we currently require! Pain free bliss!
And our final thankful absentee is no more curse. No more sin where we are going and no serpent there to tempt or deceive! No more will all creation be groaning! No more toil or thorns and thistles. No more weariness! Everything that is accursed finally gone forever! Instead, we will be in our Paradise, see our glorious God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, face to face! We shall bear His name, and having perfect knowledge and joy, we shall serve Him for ever and ever never ending! What a Saviour!
Yes, dear reader, there will be absolutely NO negatives in Heaven. The longstanding agony of mankind shall at last be resolved in the blissful joy of eternal life with our Lord and Saviour, The Lamb of God, who made all these richest blessings possible through His completed work on Calvary’s Cross. Endless thank yous Lord!
The Revelation 5:13
“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever”.
